Welcome to the Unofficial Website for the PA Class of 1983

This website was created to help our classmates stay in touch (or get back in touch), take a trip down memory lane and keep track of reunions and other news and events that may come up.  Our 20th reunion, held at the old P.A. building on 46th street was a smashing success and has inspired additional get-togethers and updates to this site.

bullet Jerome Eskow (c) Ken KamletThis sad news came from the alumni association: "Jerome Eskow, former Chairman of the Drama Department, died on November 14, 2009 following a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He loved Performing Arts and his students. And he will forever be remembered for his creative genius, compassion, and commitment to both the artistic process and to the power of acting as a vehicle for self-exploration, social change, and the building of self-esteem. A memorial service was held on Thursday, November 19 at 5pm at Riverside Memorial Chapel in Manhattan (Amsterdam Avenue between 75th and 76th Streets). He is survived by his wife, Libi, his daughter, Lisa, and his grandson, Max. The family can be contacted through his daughter at lisa.eskow@gmail.com."

bullet I'm so very sorry to have to pass on this difficult news. In Mach 2009, we lost both a beloved teacher and a much admired classmate:

bullet 2008 Reunion, L-R: Patricia Ruffin, Erich Jarvis, Jack Glashow, Maura Fogarty, Ken Kamlet)Mark Fiore (Music, '83) has created a lovely tribute to Maura Fogarty and graciously sent me the link to pass on to her classmates:
bullet Maura Fogarty Tribute

Maura Fogarty, (P.A., Music, 1983) passed away in early March 2009.  I remember Maura very, very fondly as a shy, lovely music student who was just so pleasant to everyone. After high school, she blossomed and carved out a wonderful career as a country singer. I most recently caught up with Maura in June 2008, at our reunion. She performed at the 60th anniversary gala and brought tears to our eyes; her performance was just that moving.  This photo was graciously provided by Gail Felix (Music, '83), from the June 2008 reunion (L-R:  Patricia Ruffin, Erich Jarvis, Jack Glashow, Maura Fogarty, Ken Kamlet)
bulletHere is Maura's website http://www.maurafogarty.com/  I think the best way to remember Maura is through her music; here's a sample of what she did so very well:

bulletCharles B. McCraw, (P.A. Drama Faculty) passed away on March 31, 2009.  Mr. McCraw is fondly remembered as a dedicated teacher and talented performer.  A cast member of the original Broadway productions of Brigadoon and Pal Joey, he was an accomplished choreographer (with Agnes de Mille), published author ("Scoreography", 1964) and for many years taught dance in the Drama Department of the School of Performing Arts.  Memorial messages can be left here:  http://www.legacy.com/GB2/default.aspx?bookid=5549223420193

In addition, this site has a "Where are we now" page (called Classmates) in which we can all contribute information about ourselves, classmates, friends of the class of '83 (such as PAers who graduated in '82 or '84), faculty members etc.

Hopefully you'll enjoy this site and keep in touch.  In addition to what you see here, please feel free to send suggestions, corrections, input, etc.  I am particularly interested in receiving more graphics and images of our school, classmates and faculty.  (Most of the images on this website are from our yearbook and I am told were photographed by Mark Fiore, Fred Mazart and Eric Klein)
